Ratlike
Fall 2025
Ratlike is a project that I worked on in the Fall semester of my Senior year in Collaborative game production studio. In this class, we were put into small groups and our task was to create a vertical slice of a game by the end of the semester. My group decided to work in Godot for this project.
My Role in the Project:
I was the Technical Artist for this project. As the Technical Artist, I acted as an in-between for the artists and the programmers. As I was the only member in the group who had experience in creating games in multiple game engines, I used my knowledge to help my teammates with integrating their work into the engine. For example, I helped the environment artist learn to bring their models and textures into the engine and I implemented the work of the character artist/animator. I also helped the programmers understand the game engine. I helped with the organizational structure, getting version control set up, and helping them learn ways to bug-test their code in the engine. I also handled technical tasks that the artists needed help with in their workflow, such as rigging and helping with modeling and texturing.
My Work
Though my role as Technical Artist was mostly a collaborative and supporting role, I stepped in when the artists and programmers needed something done. Below are some examples of what I created in the project.
Rigging
I rigged the models for the character artist becasue he had no experience doing so
Level 2 Design and Creation
The Environment Artist let mw know he would not be able to make the second level so I designed, modeled, textured, and implemented the second level
UI/Dialogue
I created the UI elements in the game such as the tutorial screen, the main menu, and the dialogue. I also programmed the dialogue.
